I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine of the season. I’ve been enjoying long walks and outdoor swimming and I must say, they’re wonderfully refreshing.
I hope this week’s What’s Hot Wednesday for Business Owners is equally refreshing. Here you go:
- Have you considered having a shadow board? “What’s that?” you ask. It’s a group of people different from the people who are your organization’s typical leaders and/or advisors who can bring fresh insights to your organization. This Harvard Business Review article starts with a comparison of Prada and Gucci and continues with more examples of how to make this concept work for your company.
- Here’s a piece by Robert Glazer of Acceleration Partners for LinkedIn Pulse questioning whether employees should still give 2 weeks’ notice. I’ve done many of the things he suggests with mixed results. Happy to share what I learned and in the meantime, here’s the article for your consideration.
Do Good Spotlight: PetSmart Charities
Are you familiar with this one? PetSmart Charities. They partner with nearly 4,000 nonprofits and governmental entities to support the human-animal bond across the U.S. and Canada. They help support animal adoptions, fostering, and more. Both Charity Navigator and Charity Watch give them stellar reviews. If you love an animal, why not share the love with a donation to PetSmart Charities? I do and I did.
- Looking for insights on attracting and retaining top talent? This piece from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) citing research from Pay Scale says cash is still king. What do you think?
