I hope you had wonderful 4th of July and that the rest of the weekend was great too. Mine was filled with family, friends, and fun, what more can I ask for?
This week I’m sharing a few stories that got the entrepreneur in me firing on all engines, and the featured not-for-profit rock star this week is NPR.
- Fox News reported small business confidence slipped in June. I missed that…my antennae aimed at the grassroots have picked up on more positive signals. What do you think? Do you think things are green or red for the coming months for small business? Here’s the story that caught my eye.
- I know as business owners we just keep on trucking, but we can dance on the edges of burnout ourselves, and certainly we’ve seen some of our employees cave to it. But it’s avoidable, and here are some tips from Harvard Business Review on recognizing the signs and steps to take to reverse course.
Do Good Spotlight: NPR
This week our Do Good Spotlight is on National Public Radio (NPR), an independent, nonprofit media organization that was founded on a mission to create a more informed public. Every day, NPR connects with millions of Americans on the air, online, and in person to explore the news, ideas, and what it means to be human. Through its network of member stations, NPR makes local stories national, national stories local, and global stories personal. You can listen/read/connect via radio, smart speakers, npr.org, social media, live events, NPR apps, and podcasts. And as always, we donated to our spotlighted organization and encourage you to consider supporting them too.
- And on a lighter note, you may have seen this one, but I enjoy the tongue-in-cheek suggestions for looking smarter in meetings, I just had to share.
I hope the rest of your week is wonderful! Please reach out if you want to talk about any of these stories or if you’d like to schedule an Owlthena session to get clear on a business issue that’s got your thinking cloudy.
