I’m jumping right in this week because, well, you know, there’s a lot going on!
- How are you staying energized these days? Are you being gentle with yourself despite the extra challenges? I am using the Calm app and many of the people I’ve mentioned it to are surprised to find so many features and customizable options for finding their own way to calm. There are inspirational “master classes,” bedtime stories to ease into sleep (this one seems to be the biggest ah-ha for my friends—bedtime stories for grown-ups!), and simple reminders throughout the day to “take a deep breath.” Here’s a link to the website for more info on downloading the app. You can try it for free. It retails for $70 for a year, one of my friends visited the site, didn’t order right away, and got a promo code for the app for $40, so that’s a little tip you may want to try if you don’t need it ASAP. The master classes make the app worth the cha-ching for me. The Purposeful Eating master class with Dr. Michelle May was one of the most info-filled hours I’ve ever spent in my entire life, and it’s definitely helping me with my weight-loss journey.
- And what’s stressing us these days besides the obvious? Well, there are of course the by-products of the obvious…. This eye opener from Harvard Business Review asks business leaders to raise their awareness of online harassment as working remotely takes a firmer hold. Think you’re prepared? You may want to check this out before you consider your current policies adequate.
- Want to be a better listener? Adam Bryant has tips for you if you do, and I really love, love, love what he’s got to say.
Do Good Spotlight: National Disaster Search Dog Foundation
This organization works to strengthen disaster response in the US by rescuing and recruiting dogs and partnering them with first responders to find people buried alive in wreckage. Hero alert! We donated and you can too. You’ll want to learn more, so here’s where to do that.
Please let me know how you’re doing and remember, we have Owlthena sessions available throughout the business day when you have a challenge or opportunity that has you “stuck” and unable to take the next step, whatever that is. We’ve all been there, and that’s why I started Owlthena: for those times when you don’t need a business coach, you just need a good listener who can help you quickly (1 hour) sort through tangled thinking that keeps you stuck in place. The Owlthena approach helps you really hear yourself and through that process, we help business leaders reframe the challenge so they are clear about what the next step is and how to take it. It’s amazing how quickly the rest of the steps fall into place once that first one is clear.
Check out what business leaders like you are saying about the Owlthena method and the next time you feel yourself overthinking and not acting, schedule an appointment. One time, one hour, 1:1 video chat. It’s like magic, or at least, that’s what people tell me. 😊
And in the meantime, have a great week, and thanks for being here!
